What is Journalism

The study and profession of journalism is the preparation of content to be broadcasted worldwide. With the internet decreasing the need for paper journalism has taken the online world by storm. Now news can be presented on social media platforms like Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, and even LinkedIn. A well-known journalist, Ken Kurson, says that in order to be a successful journalist one needs to be fluid with the times and always adapt to breaking stories.

The people that study journalism have to go through a lot of training before being able to access the same outlets that established journalists do. Internships, co-ops, and any other type of experience are very important when pursuing journalism. It’s recommended to have experience for about 1-2 years before applying for a junior-level position. Journalism can be very aggressive at times. Getting information before competitors is super important. The platforms that release information the fastest usually have more traffic, thus making them more popular. Ken Kurson worked for The Observer, which is a very well known platform since they produce content at a high rate level.
