CBD Oil vs. Hemp Seed Oil – Knowing the Differences

Recently, CBD and Hemp have been legalized in many states across the United States. As a result, you may be confused as to the differences when looking at the product label. As the industry begins to grow, businesses are launching new products flooding the market. It can be quite misleading, so we want to shed some light on the difference between CBD and hemp seeds. 

Although the oils are derived from the same plant species called Cannabis sativa, there’s a big difference in each one’s effect. In general, hemp seeds can be used on a wider variety of products, such as for cooking and beauty products. While Cannabis typically is used for medicinal purposes such as treatment for chronic pain, illnesses, and even mental health problems.

Reduces Pain and Inflammation – In a study published by the NCBI, CBD oil had dramatic results in diminishing the stiffness, inflammation, and pain of patients who had arthritis. CBD seems to help with chronic pain management by igniting a response to the endocannabinoid system (ECS) to create anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects. 

Improves Sleep Quality – Stress and anxiety are one of the main causes of lack of non-REM sleep. Much like most cannabis strains such as Skywalker OG seeds, CBD oil can help to regulate the stress hormone called Cortisol, in essence, calming your mind. 

Treats Anxiety and Depression – So far, experiments haven’t been conclusive as most of the experiments regarding CBD on depression are associated with animals. However, CBD seems to have positive effects by improving how your brain’s chemical receptors to serotonin react, which can produce antidepressant and anti-anxiety. Although there are antidepressant medications in the market, CBD does not have the side effects that they typically do.

Skin Health – Numerous studies done over the last decade have found that hemp oil contains healthy fatty acids and oils, which can treat some of the most common skincare problems. These problems include acne, eczema, dermatitis, lichen planus, acne rosacea, psoriasis, and varicose eczema. These healthy fatty acids have shown to protect human skin from imperfect oxidation, inflammation, and aging skin problems. 

PMS and Menopause – Hemp oil has an acid inside called gamma-linolenic acid (GLC), which aids in the production of PGE1. Women who struggle with menopause or premenstrual syndrome typically are sensitive to the prolactin hormone. By improving the production of PGE1, women have reported a significant decrease in symptoms. 

Heart and Brain Health – One of the biggest health benefits to hemp seeds is their richness in essential fatty acids and protein. Hemp includes linoleic acid, an omega 6, and alpha-linolenic acid, an omega 3. In addition, Hemp is filled with nutritious vitamin E and other healthy minerals such as iron, calcium, sulfur, zinc, sodium, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus. These ingredients are the foundation for a healthy heart and brain. For instance, an increase in omega 3 can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Further research needs to be done, and we can’t yet conclude that it is a viable solution for heart and brain health. It does seem hemp seeds can aid in the protection against potential health diseases.
